Night Photography in Providence, RI
Gary Detonnancourt
I took this image at a night photography workshop I attended last week in Providence, RI.
Super Blood Moon Eclipse
Gary Detonnancourt
Usually I shoot the moon at ISO 400 and f/11 but with the eclipse I needed to go to ISO 1600 because the moon is darker than usual. I shot this image on a Canon 7D with the Canon 100-400 mm f/5.6 and a 2x teleconverter.
This one was a bit of a mistake because my shutter speed was too slow, but I like the effect anyway.
Log Cabins & Boats
Gary Detonnancourt
This summer I went to Lake Parlin Lodge & Cabins for a relaxing and scenic vacation. I had never been to this place or to this part of Maine, and I was very pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. The cabins were beautiful and so was the scenery. There was a little over an hours ride on scenic route 201 toward Canada, and once you get there don't expect touristy activites or shopping or any other activities. This place offers quite, tranquility and outdoor adventures. It was great for my kids to enjoy the lake and the fire pits and for me there was some nice photographic opportunities.

American Bald Eagle
Gary Detonnancourt
I photographed this family of bald eagles in Maine on a recent trip. They were pretty far away so I don't have any stunning shots but still they are fun to look at. Some were shot with the Canon 100-400 mm lens while others were shot with a GH4 and a Cannon 400 mm f/5.6 with a 2x teleconverter.

Old Canada Road National Scenic Byway
Gary Detonnancourt
This is a panoramic image I just shot in Maine, as I was driving up the Old Canada Road toward Canada. I stitched 9 vertical images shot with the Canon 100-400 mm lens at 120 mm. I believe the pond in the background is called Attean Pond.

Osprey at Damariscotta Mills Fish Ladder
Gary Detonnancourt
Every year in May the alewives run up the Damariscotta fish ladder to spawn. I had planned to go in early May at the height of the action, but somehow my plans fell through. I did, however, manage to make it in early June which was at the tail end of the alewives run and was lucky enough to get some shots. If you would like more information about visiting the fish ladder click on this link to the Damariscotta Mills Restoration website.
